Mr. Nice Guy Movers - UNPACKING GUIDE

When it comes to moving, many people think of packing up and traveling to a new place.  But there’s one last leg of the process: unpacking!  Unpacking can be frustrating and time-consuming, but there are efficient ways of going about it. It is really helpful to do all your packing on a room-by-room basis – and within each room, prioritize all your boxes.  This makes your life easier when it comes time to unpack!  The essential items in Box #1, are what you would unpack first.  Boxes 2 and 3 aren’t quite as important as that box #1. And don’t feel like you need to unpack everything on the first day.  Take your time and get it done right.  You might even want to only unpack Box #1 for each room at first!

Kitchen The essential items for the kitchen include plates, cups, utensils and your coffee pot.  It’s a good idea to start with the kitchen since it is one of the most important rooms. That coffee pot is critical!  Again – if you’ve packed the important stuff in Box #1 – you’ll be very happy knowing where all of the important stuff is.  Chances are that you won’t be using your mixer, blender and food processor during the first few days after you move in – who has time to cook? Pack those appliances into boxes 4, 5 and 6 and don’t even think about unpacking them until you have everything else unpacked and put away.

Bathroom Unpacking everyday items should be a first priority.  You don’t want to go without soap – or have to hunt around in five different boxes just to find it.  Bathroom essentials include your toothbrush and toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, soap and a shower curtain. It’s also smart to have your first aid kit handy – and make sure it is in an easily reachable location.

Bedroom Once the bed is assembled, your sheets and pillows are essential articles that you may want to unpack first.  Don’t fret too much if you don’t get to the bedrooms on your first night – you can always have a family slumber party and tackle the bedrooms tomorrow! The bulk of the burden is now behind you, so take a deep breath and relax for a second!  There are still various essentials that need you should unpack right away – a flashlight, screwdriver, batteries and if you have a pet, the food and bowl.  As long as you have a place to sit in the living room, you can unpack everything else at your own leisure. The second day is ideal for unpacking the smaller items that are still important, such as the TV and most of your clothes.  It’s rewarding when all the unpacking is finally undone and you can enjoy your new home in all its glory! Unpacking can be a time-consuming process, so make it as efficient and convenient as possible!
